Health Psychology Review accepted into the Social Sciences Citation Index

Health Psychology Review has been accepted into the Social Sciences Citation Index®. This recognises the high quality content published and the fundamental role that the journal plays in the field of health psychology and behavioral medicine. The journal will likely be granted its first impact factor soon. Currently the unofficial impact factor stands at 1.333 and it is expected to climb.

For the month of February 2012, free online access is provided to the most highly cited paper of 2012 so far: Prospective prediction of health-related behaviours with the Theory of Planned Behaviour: a meta-analysis.

Health Psychology Review (HPR) is the first review journal in health psychology and behavioral medicine. This new international forum, edited by a highly respected team, provides a leading environment for review, theory, and conceptual development. HPR contributes to the advancement of the discipline of health psychology and allied disciplines such as medicine and psychology. Conceptual, theoretical, and empirical review submissions including systematic reviews and meta-analyses from authors in all areas of health psychology and behavioral medicine are welcomed.

Call for nominations for new Membership Secretary to join the UKSBM Executive Committee

The UKSBM is seeking nominations for the post of Membership Secretary of the UKSBM to join the Society’s Executive Commitee. The Membership Secretary is responsible for managing Society membership applications and renewals, for maintaining the membership database, and for circulating messages to members as needed.

The deadline for nominations is Friday 3 February 2012 at 5pm.

Call for Chairs and Members of Programme Grants for Applied Research Sub-Panels

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) is seeking to appoint new members, including Chairs, to serve on Programme Grants for Applied Research sub-panels that consider researcher-led proposals to the programme.

NIHR would welcome applications from clinicians and methodologists with a strong track record in applied health research and from members of the public who wish to contribute to the assessment of research proposals from a service user perspective.

2011 UKSBM Early Career Award call for applications

The UKSBM Early Career Awards recognise and reward promising Early Career Researchers in behavioural medicine.

The selection of the Early Career Award will be based on early career achievement and review of a submitted and accepted abstract. Achievement is defined as a significant advance in the field of Behavioural Medicine, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, presentations and/or grant income.

The award consists of a certificate and a cheque for £100 and free registration for the UKSBM conference annual scientific meeting held the following year.

To qualify for this award, the applicant must meet the eligibility criteria listed below:

Eligibility Criteria for Applicants:

  • Should be no more than 36 months past the award date of their highest degree.
  • Must be a member of the UKSBM.
  • Must be the lead author of an abstract of empirical work accepted for this year’s UKSBM ASM.
  • Attendance at this year’s UKSBM conference is required.

The following information must be submitted:

  • Abstracts will be submitted via the official abstract submission site, as listed on the UKSBM website.
  • The candidate’s CV of no more than 4 pages in length.
  • Any member of UKSBM may nominate a candidate for the award. Nominations (maximum of 1 page) should include an outline of why they think the candidate merits the award, and a very brief synopsis of their career, together with the names of two potential referees, who may be approached by the UKSBM Committee, but who are not from the same organisation as the nominating member.

Please note: The deadline for submission of all UKSBM 2011 Early Career Awards applications and supporting materials is 1st November 2011. All applications are to be submitted to Dr Rachael Powell, UKSBM General Secretary, Psychology, School of Life and Health Sciences, Aston University, Aston Triangle, Birmingham, B4 7ET, r.k.powell@aston.ac.uk, by this deadline in order to qualify as a 2011 award applicant.

Applications will be independently evaluated by three members of the UKSBM committee.

 

12th International Congress of Behavioral Medicine (ICBM)
