Call for papers: 2013 International Conference in Health Psychology, Santiago, Chile

The call for papers is now open for the 2013 International Conference in Health Psychology, to be held 14-15 Nov 2013 in Santiago, Chile. The conference is to be held alongside the Annual Meeting of the Chilean Society of Behavioral Medicine.

Post-congress satellite final programme: AFRESH approaches to tackling childhood obesity, 16th May 2013, Liverpool, UK

The final programme is now available for the AFRESH approaches to tackling childhood obesity: enterprise, innovation and action post-congress satellite of ECO 2013. The meeting will explore innovative approaches to tackling childhood obesity and will be held at Liverpool John Moores University. It is organised by the Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences at Liverpool John Moores University in association with the European FP7-funded programme Activity and Food for Regional Economies Supporting Health (AFRESH).

The meeting will be relevant to representatives from academia, industry, the public sector and the third sector that have an interest in childhood obesity. This may include researchers, public health professionals, health care professionals, policy-makers, physical activity specialists, nutritionists, dieticians, paediatricians, physicians, educators, community and business leaders, psychologists and behavioural scientists.

Call for applications to Synergy 2013 Workshop: Methods for changing environmental conditions for health

The European Health Psychology Society is call for applications to attend the 2013 Synergy pre-conference workshop in Bordeaux, France, 15-16 July  2013. The workshop will focus on methods for changing environmental conditions for health by influencing organisations, key actors and stakeholders and will be convened by Gerjo Kok and Rob Ruiter.

Conference: Weight stigma and health, 16 May 2013, University of Birmingham

The University of Birmingham is hosting multidisciplinary conference focusing on the subject of Weight Stigma and Health, featuring presentations from both national and international keynote speakers. The conference will be of interest to researchers, clinicians, and students from a wide range of disciplines, including psychology, social sciences, medicine, public health, allied health professions, sports and exercise science, education, media studies, law, business and social policy.

Abstracts are currently being accepted for oral and/or poster presentations on subjects related to weight-associated stigma, including, but not limited to, weight stigma in health professionals, impact of weight stigma on health and well-being  stigma in society, public policy implications, legal considerations pertaining to weight-based discrimination, and interventions to reduce weight stigma. Postgraduate students are especially encouraged to submit their work.

Abstract submission instructions and the submission form can be found on the website. Please indicate if you would also like to be considered to deliver an oral presentation. The abstract submission deadline is 7th April 2013 for oral presentations and 23rd April 2013 for posters.

AFRESH post-congress childhood obesity satellite of ECO2013

The 20th European Congress of Obesity (ECO2013) will be held in Liverpool from 12th-15th May 2013. UKSBM members are invited to attend a post-congress satellite event on Thursday 16th May 2013, entitled AFRESH approaches to childhood obesity: enterprise, innovation and action.  The event is jointly organised by AFRESH and Liverpool John Moores University. This meeting will explore innovative approaches to tackling childhood obesity and features a fantastic array of high quality speakers from academia, industry, and the public and third sectors. Pre- or post-conference workshops at UKSBM 2013 ASM: Open call for expressions of interest

The UKSBM is keen to support pre- and/or post-conference workshops at this year’s Annual Scientific Meeting in Oxford, in addition to those available at the ASM itself. Anyone interested in exploring the potential of holding a workshop before or after this year’s ASM should contact either Paul Aveyard or Amanda Lewis by the 29th of March 2013.

Call for abstracts: SSPC Annual Conference 2013 in Inverness

The Scottish School of Primary Care would like to invite submissions for abstract presentations, posters and workshops of high quality research of relevance to primary care, to be presented at the SSPC Conference on 25th & 26th April 2013 in Inverness. The theme of the conference is “Environmental Influences on Health”.

The European Health Psychology Society will be holding its annual conference in Bordeaux, France this year from 17th to 20th of July 2013. The theme for this year’s conference is “Well-being, Quality of Life and Caregiving”.

Abstract submissions for oral presentations, poster presentations, symposia, roundtables/debates and workshops are welcomed. The deadline for abstract submission is 14 February 2013.
