Job Advert: Professor/Reader in Public Health, Coventry University

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at Coventry University is seeking to appoint an established researcher, from an academic, practitioner or clinical background, who will work across the Faculty with senior staff to enhance applied research activities in the area
of public health interventions for health and well being.

As well as further developing your own research portfolio, you will be expected to lead an applied research group and/or to be part of established applied research centres in the Faculty to support the development and extension of staff active in your area of research.

You will be expected to have a strong research record of national, and possibly international, standing including a strong publication record and track record of research funding. You will also be expected to supervise research degree students. Whilst the Faculty is flexible over the precise research focus of successful candidates, we are looking to appoint someone who has a research profile commensurate with a strong REF submission. Job Advert: Investigator Scientist, MRC Epidemiology Unit, Cambridge

The MRC Epidemiology Unit at Cambridge seeks to appoint an Investigator Scientist (fixed term 25 month contract) to promote and assess fidelity of an innovative theory-based intervention to reduce formula-milk intake and prevent excess weight gain during infancy, and to contribute to writing up the findings.

The Investigator Scientist will work on The Baby Milk Study which is evaluating the effectiveness of a multi-component, theory-based intervention to reduce formula-milk intake and prevent excess weight gain during infancy. For further information about the study, please visit www.mrc-epid.cam.ac.uk/Research/Studies/BabyMilk/.  The intervention is delivered by trained facilitators who are healthcare professionals with experience of working with infants and their mothers. 

Key responsibilities as an Investigator Scientist will include:

  • Delivering initial and refresher training to the intervention facilitators.
  • Provide post-training supervision and support, assessing and promoting fidelity of the intervention and control condition according to protocols and underlying psychological theories, and co-ordinate intervention delivery.
  • Contributing to writing up the findings for presentation at national and international conferences and publication in high-impact journals.

Job Advert: Lecturer/Senior Lecturer – Health Psychology (University of Stirling)

The University of Stirling is seeking to appoint an outstanding research psychologist within the School of Natural Sciences to enhance the School’s national and international profile. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out internationally excellent research and high quality teaching as well as contributing to administration and development activities. The post provides an exciting opportunity to enhance the key research group –the Centre for Health and Behaviour Change. Consideration will also be given to applicants who provide evidence of potential for strong collaboration with other areas of expertise at Stirling, both within the School of Natural Sciences and beyond, for example in the areas of Sport, Nursing, Behavioural Economics, Ageing and Dementia.

Candidates must have a track record of high quality publications and a clear research trajectory.
